Friendship with Sri Lanka: India’s newly appointed High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Shri Santosh Jha has taken charge. According to him, India is committed to strengthening the special friendship with Sri Lanka.
On Friday, India’s new High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, presented his credentials to Honorable President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
On this occasion, he pledged to work to further strengthen the special friendship with Sri Lanka, the island country.
Santosh Jha has replaced Gopal Bagle in Sri Lanka. Who has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to Australia.

Friendship with Sri Lanka: Santosh Jha
He has experience of serving as a member of the teams negotiating Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with Sri Lanka and the European Union respectively.

He is keen to further strengthen bilateral relations between India and friendship with Sri Lanka, promoting cooperation in various fields.
Deep historical, geographical, cultural and people-to-people ties
Newly appointed Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha wrote in President Wickremesinghe’s guest book that India and Sri Lanka share deep historical, geographical, cultural and people-to-people ties.
Santosh Jha highlighted the growth of relations in political, economic and security spheres over the decades.
Emphasized India’s role as Sri Lanka’s close neighbour, largest trading partner and a major development partner.
Santosh Jha expressed commitment to strengthen the special friendship between the two countries and promote closer cooperation in trade, investment, energy, connectivity and other areas.
He expressed confidence by sharing his goals from the vision paper agreed by the leaders of both the countries.
Their cooperation will promote shared prosperity, progress and regional stability for India and friendship with Sri Lanka.
Santosh Jha thanked the Honorable President for warm welcome
The new High Commissioner of India thanked Honorable President Wickremesinghe for the warm welcome and said that he looks forward to constructive activities in the future.
He was the Ambassador of India to Uzbekistan from 2019-2020 and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India in Washington DC from 2017-2019.
He has held important posts in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi. These include the posts of Head of the Division of Human Resources and Management Affairs, Division of Relations with Western Europe and the European Union and Head of the Policy Planning Division.
Santosh Jha also served as a Counselor in the Colombo High Commission from 2007 to 2010 and handled responsibilities related to commerce and economic matters.
