The sad demise of Shri Rangahari ji has taken away from us a deep thinker and above all a loving elder. This is a personal loss for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
Let us tell you that today senior pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Shri Rangahari ji has passed away. Shri Rangahari ji has been the former Akhil Bharatiya Baudhik Pramukh of RSS.
He breathed his last in a hospital in Cochin on Sunday morning. He was 93 years old and had been ill for some time. Shri Rangahari ji was the Akhil Bharatiya Baudhik Pramukh of the Sangh from 1991 to 2005. Remained dedicated to the service of Ma Bharti till the last moments of his life.

Shri Ranghari ji was very special for RSS
Revered Shri Ranghari ji (Hari Attan) was such a preacher of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Who provided intellectual guidance to the volunteers in simple, easy words.
Used to clarify practical information with examples. His loving guidance has been experienced by the volunteers. He played an important role in the struggle against the Emergency.
He always remained dedicated to the nation. Dedicated every moment of his life selflessly to the service of Ma Bharti. He worked tirelessly to build a prosperous nation empowered by cultural and national ideas.
RSS expressed deep sorrow on the demise of Shri Rangahari ji
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has expressed deep sorrow on the demise of Shri Rangahari ji. Sarsanghchalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat and Sarkaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale ji said in their condolence message that the sad demise of our Shri Rangahari ji has taken away from us a deep thinker, an efficient worker, an ideal of behavior, and above all an affectionate and encouraging senior.
Shri Rangahari ji lived his life in a full and meaningful manner. Lakhs of workers who came under his guidance when he was the All India Intellectual Head of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh would be mourning his demise today across India.
During his illness, his last days, he was fully aware of his declining strength, but he did not stop his activities of reading, writing and giving pleasant advice to the volunteers who came to visit him.
Just on October 11, his commentary on Prithvi Sukta was published in Delhi. Despite aphasia, he listened to visitors and responded with his facial expressions.
I personally, and on behalf of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, express my respectful condolences to his inspiring memory and pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul. Om Shanti.
Recently Shri Ranghari ji participated in own book launch
Recently, RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat and Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan had released Rangahari ji’s book ‘Prithvi Sukta: A Tribute to Dharti Mata‘ at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, Delhi.
Shri Rangahari ji was knowledgeable in 11 languages
Shri Rangahari ji was knowledgeable in 11 languages including English, Sanskrit, Marathi, Hindi, Konkani and Malayalam. He has written more than 60 books in different languages on various issues.
Shri Rangahari joined the Sangh in 1944 inspired by Nagpur’s pracharak Purushottam Chincholkar. And he continued to work as a dedicated worker of the Sangh till the end of his life.
He was actively involved in socio-cultural movements in Kerala. One of his notable achievements was Guruji Samagra, published in Hindi in 12 volumes. Of which he was the editor-in-chief.
